Poetry

My soul cries for you, Dear. Unknowingly, I cannot help but imagine your face with every breath, Beloved. Even gods would look upon my devotion with bitter envy. I was a wretched thing plunged into the abyss of hopelessness with no escape, drowning in my own thoughts till my soul resembled charcoal. Even in an absolute abyss as such you shone a glimmer of light so soft surrounded by elegant colours of love such as the warmth of the sun on a winter morning. Your presence exudes love so immense that my gloomy days of despair were engulfed by the colours of your saintliness. For an instant, a hollow being caught the fragrance of nectar within your colours. A sense of tranquility of the moonlight sky graced the abyss. But my mind sabotages every ounce of kindness till my humanity turns into Ash. Ash so toxic, even if scattered across the soil it would poison the roots, bearing the fruit of bitterness—reminding of the soul-draining creature I am I ponder, I ponder why a being like you overflowing with sweetness ,like honey would daringly love me. At the thought of this, I laugh, I laugh like a madman dead inside at how foolish you were to try and pour nectar into the abyss. Even a creature so numb pities you for your foolishness Then I think you can't help it; you cannot help but effuse warmth —you are made of it! You are in fact the divine that embodies love to such an extent that you are a Deity—and I, a Demon. A demon drenched in thoughts of self-pity to such an extent that people passing by dare not look my way; I exude the vile and death-like emotions that send chills through their spines. You've made a mistake, Dear—a grave mistake Your sweetness has been soiled by rotten thoughts of me —like honey from a soot-stained vessel, every spoonful served tastes of smoke and Ash. Had you never looked my way, your sanctity would remain untouched; but now, wherever you pour the Elixir of Love, there will be the Bitterness of my Being. —Ash
